An Exprimental Study on the Influence of Vitamin E upon Serum Lipid Levels of Rats Fed High Lipid Diet

Abstract
Seventy five healthy Sprague-Dawley rats weighing around 150gm were used for the experimental study on the influence of vitamin E upon serum cholesterol, triglyceride and phospholipid levels of rats fed with high lipid diet. The experimental animal groups divided were 1) control group fed basic diet, 2) lipid administered group fed basic diet with cholesterol 100mg, corn oil 2g, bile 20mg/day, and 3) lipid and vitamin E administered group fed basic diet with cholesterol 100mg, corn oil 2g, bile 20mg and vitamin E 25mg/day.
The results obtained from this study were as follows:
1) Serum cholesterol and phospholipid levels in lipid and vitamin E administered group were slightly lower than that of lipid administered group 4.
2) Serum triglyceride level in lipid administered group was increased highly and consistantly. In lipid and vitamin E administered group, the level was significantly lower than that of lipid administered group.
